Things You'll Need
- Dish towel
- Liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Borax powder
- Ammonia
- Rubbing alcohol
- Hydrogen peroxide
Removing Nail Polish from Linen
- Blot the stain with a clean dish towel to absorb as much polish as possible.
- Mix together 1 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Dip an old toothbrush into solution and gently scrub the affected area.
- Rinse stained area with warm water.
- If the stain persists, make a paste with 2 tablespoons of Borax powder and a small amount of water. Apply to the stained area and let sit for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- If the stain still won't come out, mix together 1 teaspoon of ammonia and 1/2 cup of warm water. Dip a cloth into mixture and blot the affected area. Rinse off with warm water.
- For persistent stains, mix together 1 part rubbing alcohol to 3 parts hydrogen peroxide. Apply to stain with a cotton ball and let sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
- Launder linen according to instructions on the care label.
