Preparation

  • Gather the necessary materials:
    • Leather cleaner
    • Leather conditioner
    • Clean cloths
    • Dry sponge
    • Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
  • Make sure your leather item is completely dry before beginning to clean. If it is wet, allow it to dry completely.
  • Test all of your products on an inconspicuous area of the leather item before starting.

Cleaning Process

  1. Remove as much of nail polish stain as possible with a dry sponge or cloth. It's important to use a dry cloth or sponge to avoid making the stain spread further.
  2. Apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a clean cloth and dab at the stain until it has lifted off the leather. Do not rub too hard as this can damage the material.
  3. Once the stain is removed, use a leather cleaner to restore the natural look of the leather.
  4. Once the cleaner has been applied and allowed to sit for a few minutes, use a separate cloth to buff out the area and remove any residue.
  5. Apply a leather conditioner to the area to help it stay soft, supple, and resistant to cracking.
