Whether due to an accidental spill or creative fashion statement, getting nail polish on your clothes can be annoying and difficult to remove. Thankfully, there is a simple solution to getting rid of nail polish stains on your hoodie without having to resort to replacing it.

Step 1: Identify Fabric

Before starting the process of removing nail polish from your hoodie, it’s important to identify the fabric. Different fabrics require different cleaning methods, so you want to make sure you know what you’re dealing with to avoid damaging your hoodie further. Generally, most hoodies are made with either cotton or polyester.

Step 2: Pre-treat the Stain

The next step is to pre-treat the stain. To do this, mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with two cups of warm water. Then, use a sponge or cloth to gently rub mixture on the stain. Soak for about 10 minutes and then rinse the area with cold water.

Step 3: Apply Detergent

Next, apply some detergent directly to the stain. Gently rub the detergent into stain until it has been completely saturated. Let the detergent sit for approximately 15 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse in Cold Water

Finally, rinse the stain with cold water. Use a sponge or cloth to gently rub the area until all of the detergent has been removed. Once the detergent has been removed, hang hoodie up to dry.
