What You'll Need

To clean your handbag of nail polish stains, you'll need following items:

  • Water
  • A damp cloth or sponge
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Vinegar

Getting Started

First, start by scraping off as much of the excess nail polish as possible using a dull knife. Make sure not to press too hard as this could damage your handbag and make the stain worse. If the polish is still wet, use a damp cotton cloth or sponge to gently blot away the stain, making sure not to rub it in.

Cleaning with Dishwashing Liquid Solution

Make a solution of 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and 2 cups of warm water. Using a fresh cloth or sponge that has been dampened in the solution, blot the stained area. Continue to blot until the nail polish has completely been removed. Rinse off with cold water and allow to air dry.

Removing Stubborn Stains

For stubborn stains, you may need to try a different approach. First, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or vinegar directly on the stain and let it sit for several minutes. Then dampen a cloth or sponge with a solution of 1/2 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in 1 cup of warm water and gently blot the area. Rinse off with cold water and allow to air dry.
