Step 1: Act Fast

Nail polish stains can set quickly, so be sure to take immediate action before the stain has time to dry and set. To start, gently dab away any excess nail polish from the area with a cloth or paper towel.

Step 2: Prepare the Stain Remover

Next, mix together a solution of 1 cup rubbing alcohol and 1 tablespoon dish soap in a bowl. Make sure to use a mild detergent that is formulated for handwashing delicates, such as flannels.

Step 3: Apply the Remover to Stain

Using a cloth or cotton ball, dip it into the stain remover mixture and dab the cloth around the edges of the stain. Make sure to not rub the stain, as this will only make it spread further.

Step 4: Rinse Stain

Once you’ve allowed the remover to sit on stain for a few minutes, rinse away the solution with cold water. Be sure to use cold water, as warm or hot water can cause the stain to set further into the fabric.

Step 5: Launder the Shirt

Once the stain has been rinsed away, it’s time to throw the shirt in the wash. Even though the stain may appear gone, it’s important to launder the shirt to ensure that any remaining nail polish residue is fully removed. Use the gentlest cycle available.

Step 6: Dry the Shirt

Finally, hang shirt up to air dry or put it in dryer using low heat setting. Once the shirt is completely dry, you’ll have a stain-free flannel to wear again soon.
