Start by checking the care tag on jeans. Some denims are pre-treated or may require special attention, so follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results. Once you know how to safely clean the fabric, you can move on to removing the stain.
First, mix a solution of warm water and a small amount of laundry detergent in a bowl. Dip a sponge into mixture and begin blotting the stained area. This will help lift the nail polish away from fabric. Be sure to avoid rubbing or scrubbing too hard, as that could damage denim.
If the stain is still there after blotting, apply some rubbing alcohol to the spot and continue to blot with the sponge. This should help to dissolve the remaining nail polish. Once stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water. Blot the area again with a clean cloth, then leave the jeans in the sun to dry.
If the nail polish stain is stubborn, you can try using a stain remover product instead of the rubbing alcohol. Follow the instructions on the label, as some products need to be washed off with soap and water afterwards. Make sure to dry the jeans completely after using any type of cleaning product.
Getting nail polish stains out of denim is possible with a few simple steps. Just remember to always check the care tag before attempting any cleaning methods, as some denims may require different cleaning methods. With the right combination of rubbing alcohol and gentle cleaning, you can get your jeans looking like new again in no time.
