Removing Nail Polish Stains From Cotton Twill

The first step is to act fast, as the sooner you begin to treat the stain, the better your chances of successfully removing it. First, try gently dabbing at the stain with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol. If that doesn’t work, try applying a small amount of nail polish remover directly to the stain. Once the nail polish has been removed, rinse the item with cold water before laundering it as usual.

You can also try pre-treating stain by wetting the area with cold, clean water. Then, apply a few drops of liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stain, rub it in gently and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Then, launder item as normal and check the stain to see if it’s gone.

If the stain persists, you can use hydrogen peroxide. Be sure to use 3% solution, not the more concentrated product. Apply it directly to the stain, then blot with a soft white cloth or paper towel. Rinse garment and repeat this process until the stain is removed. Once nail polish is gone, launder the item as usual.
