Before you start cleaning, make sure that you have all the necessary tools at your disposal:

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap

  • A clean white cloth
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Baking soda

Steps to Follow

  1. Scrape off any excess nail polish with a blunt object.
  2. Mix equal parts of white vinegar and dish soap in a bowl. Soak a clean cloth in the solution. Blot the stain until most of nail polish is absorbed.
  3. Moisten a corner of the cloth with rubbing alcohol and dab remaining nail polish.
  4. Mix a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with a ½ teaspoon of baking soda in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the mixture and dab repeatedly on the stain.
  5. Rinse the stained area with cold water and dab with a cloth soaked in warm water.
  6. Launder the fabric as usual and air dry.

Tips to Remember When Cleaning Nail Polish Stains from Cotton Canvas

  • Act quickly when the nail polish spills by not letting it set in the fabric for a long time.
  • Ensure you read the care instructions of the fabric before proceeding with the cleaning process.
  • Avoid using hot water when washing the fabric as it could cause the nail polish to spread further.
  • Always check the fabric for discoloration or damage once you complete the cleaning process.
