What You'll Need

  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Oxygen-based bleach
  • A white cloth or towel
  • A toothbrush or old cloth

Steps to Restore Your Corduroy

  1. Mix together one tablespoon of dish soap and two tablespoons of white vinegar. Make sure to stir mixture together until it begins to foam slightly.
  2. Using a white cloth or towel, gently apply mixture onto the stain in a light, circular motion. Do not scrub too hard as this can damage the fabric.
  3. Once stain has been removed, rinse fabric with cold water and allow it to air dry.
  4. If the stain has still not been fully removed, use an oxygen-based bleach and a toothbrush or old cloth to gently scrub the remainder of the stain away. Be sure not to use too much pressure when scrubbing, otherwise you could damage the fabric.

Tips to Prevent Future Stains

  • Always examine the fabric before you begin painting your nails so that you can check for any potential stains.
  • Ensure that you are using a base coat on all of your nail polishes as this will help to protect the fabric from any potential staining.
  • If possible, always use a protective barrier between your skin and fabric when painting your nails.
  • Wash and dry the fabric as soon as possible after staining to prevent nail polish from setting in.
