As soon as possible after the spill, immediately rinse the fabric in cold water. This will prevent nail polish from penetrating further into the fabric fibers.
Mix up a soapy solution with either liquid dishwashing soap or laundry detergent. Gently scrub the stained area with an old toothbrush. This should remove some of the nail polish residue.
Once the stain has been treated with the soapy mixture, rinse it out with cold water. Repeat these steps until the stain has been completely removed.
If the soapy mixture doesn't seem to be working, try mixing white vinegar and water together in equal parts and apply it to the stain. Let the fabric sit for several minutes before rinsing it.
If all else fails, grab some hydrogen peroxide and dab it onto the stained area. Be sure to use a clean cloth when doing so. Once it's been applied, let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Once the stain is gone, you can simply air dry your capris. If you want to be extra cautious, you can also machine wash them with your other clothes. This will ensure that no traces of the nail polish remain.
Did you know that nail polish stains can actually be prevented? Always make sure to apply a coat of clear nail polish to the nails you'll be painting before the color goes on. This will help prevent any nail polish from seeping through to your skin or clothes!
