When you’re dealing with a nail polish stain, it’s important to act fast. The longer the stain remains on the fabric, the harder it will be to get it out. Here are some tips to help you quickly and easily remove nail polish stains from your button-down shirt:

Step 1: Gather Supplies

To clean the stain, you’ll need a few basic supplies. Gather rubbing alcohol, an old toothbrush, liquid dish soap, white vinegar, and a clean rag. Make sure you use a white rag so color of the rag won’t transfer to the fabric.

Step 2: Soak Stain in Rubbing Alcohol

Using the clean rag, pour rubbing alcohol onto the stain and let it soak for about 5 minutes. Rubbing alcohol is effective for breaking down nail polish and making it easier to remove. Be sure not to rub the area as it may spread the stain.

Step 3: Scrub Stain with Toothbrush and Soap

Once the area has soaked in the rubbing alcohol, use an old toothbrush to scrub the stain with a dab of liquid dish soap. Work the toothbrush in a circular motion to break up the stain and allow the soap to work its magic. Use only a small amount of soap because too much could make the stain worse.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Once you’ve managed to remove most of the stain, rinse the area with cold water. If there is still some stubborn nail polish remaining, repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain is completely gone.

Step 5: Apply Vinegar Mixture

To finish the process and make sure no trace of nail polish remains, create a mixture of one part white vinegar and one part water. Then, using the clean rag, pour the mixture onto the area and let it sit for 10 minutes. The vinegar should help remove any residue that is left behind.
