Materials Needed

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swabs
  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton balls
  • Toothbrush
  • Dish soap

Step 1: Soak The Barrette in Rubbing Alcohol

The first step in cleaning nail polish stains out of your barrettes is to take a cotton ball and soak it in rubbing alcohol. Then, gently rub the cotton ball against stained area of the barrette. Leave it on there for a few minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean cloth.

Step 2: Use a Cotton Swab

Take a cotton swab and dip it into some nail polish remover. Then, use the swab to rub the stained area until the stain starts to fade. Once the stain has been removed, be sure to wipe off any excess nail polish remover with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Soak the Barrette in Hot Water

Fill a bowl or sink with hot water and pour in a few drops of dish soap. Then, place the barrette in the water and let it soak for 15 minutes. After it's done soaking, rinse it off with cold water and dry it off with a clean cloth.

Step 4: Use a Toothbrush

If the stain is still present after trying the first three steps, then use a toothbrush to scrub the stained area. Add a little bit of dish soap onto the bristles and begin scrubbing. Be sure to be gentle, as the bristles could scratch the surface of the barrette. When finished, rinse off the soap and dry the barrette with a clean cloth.

Conclusion

With a few simple steps, you can quickly clean nail polish stains out of your barrettes. Soak the barrette in rubbing alcohol, use a cotton swab with nail polish remover, soak it in hot water, and use a toothbrush to scrub the stained area. With a little bit of patience and effort, you'll be able to restore your barrettes to their original beautiful condition.
