What You'll Need

  • Nail polish remover (acetone)
  • A soft cloth
  • Dishwashing liquid

Instructions

  1. Dab the stained area with a cloth saturated in nail polish remover.
  2. Let it sit until the stain lifts. If necessary, repeat this step.
  3. Wash item in a solution of dishwashing liquid and warm water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. To be sure the stain is completely gone, apply 1-2 drops of dishwashing liquid directly on stain. Using a clean cloth, dab at the area and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
  5. Repeat these steps until the stain has completely lifted.

Additional Tips

  • If the nail polish is still wet, use a paper towel to absorb as much of it as possible.
  • For a more natural approach, apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of vinegar to the stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes before washing the item as usual.
  • Be sure to read the care instructions for the item and never use a bleach-based cleaner on the fabric.
