Pre-Treating the Stain

Before you start washing the garment with laundry detergent, pre-treat the stained area with a small amount of mild dish soap. Allow the soap to sit on the stained fabric for 10 minutes. Rinse the fabric with cold water.

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Remove the Stain

If stain is still visible after pre-treating the fabric, use rubbing alcohol to try and remove the stain. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and gently rub the stained area. Be sure to only use a dab of rubbing alcohol and not too much, as too much alcohol can damage the material.

Once you've rubbed the stain with rubbing alcohol, rinse fabric with cold water.

Using Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide

If the stain is still there, use a mixture of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to try and remove the nail polish. Start by mixing 1/4 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide together in a bowl. Soak a clean washcloth in the mixture and wring it out so it's just damp. Then place the cloth over the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes.

When time is up, rinse the fabric in cold water. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process until the stain is gone.

Finishing Up

Once you've successfully removed the stain, launder your clothing as normal. Line dry your garment and inspect it once it is completely dry. If the stain is still visible, repeat the above steps until the stain is completely gone.
