Things You'll Need:

  • Glass bowl
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • White cloth
  • Dryer sheet
  • Mild laundry detergent

Step 1: Blot Stained Area

As soon as you notice the stain, take a white cloth and blot the area with cloth. Do not scrub or spread the stain, as this can make it larger or set it into the fabric permanently.

Step 2: Soak the Stain

Fill a glass bowl with enough rubbing alcohol to cover the stained area. Place your dress in the bowl and let it soak for 10 minutes. Make sure to check the label on your dress to make sure rubbing alcohol is safe to use. After the 10 minutes, take the dress out of the bowl and blot the area again with the white cloth.

Step 3: Treat the Stained Area

Spray the stained area with a dryer sheet and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. The dryer sheet helps to remove the stain and freshen up the fabric. After 10 minutes, use a soft brush to gently remove the dryer sheet and any residue from the fabric.

Step 4: Wash the Fabric

Finally, add a capful of mild detergent and wash fabric according to your garment's instructions. Once finished, air dry or use a low-heat setting on your dryer.

Step 5: Check Before Wearing

Before wearing your dress, check stained area to make sure all of the nail polish has been removed. If any of the stain is still visible, repeat steps 2-4.
