Cleaning Metal and Plastic Accessories:

For metal and plastic accessories, start by dabbing a little bit of rubbing alcohol onto the stained area. Use a cotton swab to spread the alcohol around until the stain starts to lift. If the stain is particularly stubborn, let the alcohol sit on the item for a few minutes before you start scrubbing. Once stain as lifted, rinse the alcohol away with cold water and allow the accessory to dry.

Cleaning Fabric Accessories:

For fabrics like clothing, purses, and hats, you'll need to act quickly when removing nail polish. Start by blotting up as much of the pomp as you can with a damp paper towel or a soft cloth. Then, mix a tablespoon of liquid detergent with two cups of warm water, and apply the mixture to the stain. Gently scrub fabric together with your fingers to loosen the stain and then rinse the fabric in cold water. Finally, place the item into the washing machine and launder with your daily laundry routine.

Additional Tips:

  • Always test any cleaning solutions or solvents out on a small, unobtrusive area of your accessory first before using it on the stained area.
  • To prevent nail polish stains from setting in your fabric pieces, spray them with a pre-treatment solution like Zout or Spray and Wash. This will ensure that any nail polish accidents can be cleaned with relative ease.
  • If all else fails, head to a professional dry cleaner!
