As soon as you realise you've got a mustard stain on your clothing, take action straight away by blotting up any excess sauce with a paper towel or tissue. This will help stop the stain from spreading further and make it easier to treat.
Mix a solution of one teaspoon of liquid detergent and two cups of cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and blot the stain. Repeat this process until the stain has been fully saturated.
Wash the clothing on a regular cycle with the hottest water safe for the fabric and washing powder or liquid detergent. Make sure to check care label on your item of clothing for further instructions.
If the stain still remains then mix a solution of one tablespoon of ammonia and one cup of warm water. Dampen a cloth in this mixture and dab the stained area with it. Rinse the clothing thoroughly after you’ve finished.
Once you’ve removed the stain, machine or air dry the clothing and inspect to see if the stain has disappeared. If so, you can go ahead and wear or store your item of clothing as normal.
