Step 1: As soon as you notice the stain, blot it with a damp cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the mustard as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this may cause it to spread and make it harder to remove.
Step 2: Pre-treat the stain with an enzyme-based pre-wash stain remover. Spray the product onto the stain and let it sit for at least 20 minutes, or the amount of time recommended on the product label.
Step 3: Wash the garment in the hottest water temperature safe for the material according to care label instructions, using a laundry detergent. Add a half cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle to help remove odors and break down the stain.
Step 4: Once the garment has finished washing, check to see if the stain is gone. If not, repeat the steps above until the stain is removed.
Step 5: Hang or lay flat to dry. Do not put the garment in the dryer until you are certain that the stain is gone.
With the right products and a little patience, mustard stains can be successfully removed from workwear. Follow these steps and don't give up until the stain is completely gone!
