How to Get Mustard Stains Out of Wool: A Do-it-Yourself Guide

Mustard stains on wool can be tricky. But with a few easy steps and some household laundry items, you can remove them from your wool fabric in no time!

Materials

  • Liquid dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Instructions

  1. Apply a small amount of liquid dish soap to the mustard stain and work it into the fabric.
  2. Soak area in white vinegar for 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse with cold water and blot dry with a towel.
  4. Using a clean cloth, apply a paste made with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to stained area.
  5. Leave the paste on for an hour or two, then rinse with cold water.
  6. Repeat if necessary and allow the fabric to air dry.

Extra Tips

  • If stain is particularly stubborn, try spraying it with a pre-treatment spray before applying the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste.
  • Always read the care label on your item first before attempting any sort of stain removal.
