Tired of seeing that mustard stain on your favorite wallet? You’re not alone. Whether it was a hot dog, French dip, or something else, removing a mustard stain doesn’t have to be a challenge. With some simple ingredients and a little bit of elbow grease, you’ll be able to take back control of your wallet in no time.
Before getting started, give your wallet a quick vacuum to help make sure it's as clean as possible. You could use a handheld vacuum like the Dyson V7 Motorhead Cordless Stick Vacuum for smaller spots. Don’t worry about using a ton of suction - just go over the area a couple of times. This may help to loosen some of the stain, making it easier to clean.
Create a paste by combining one tablespoon of dish soap with three tablespoons of baking soda. If you need more past, feel free to double or triple the amounts. This will create a gentle abrasive which will help to remove the stain.
Using a damp cloth, apply paste to mustard stain. Gently rub the paste into the stain in circular motions, making sure to be thorough but careful throughout. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes.
After the allotted amount of time, use a clean damp cloth to wipe away the paste. You should see the stain noticeably lightening. If it’s still noticeable, repeat steps 1-4 as many times as needed.
Once the stain has been removed, be sure to properly dry the area before putting your wallet back in your pocket. This will help prevent any damage caused by moisture build up.
Consider investing in a leather protector spray for your wallet. This will help create an extra layer of protection and make it easier to clean any future messes off of your wallet.
