What You’ll Need

  • Bowl
  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Cold water

Instructions

1. Fill a bowl with cold water.

2. Add a scoop of laundry detergent to the bowl.

3. Mix the detergent and water together until they form a sudsy solution.

4. Dip the stained area of the t-shirt into the sudsy water.

5. Massage the suds into the fabric until the mustard stain is completely flooded with bubbles.

6. Leave the t-shirt to sit for an hour or two so that the laundry detergent has time to work its magic.

7. Remove the t-shirt from the water and check the stain. If it’s still there, try some white vinegar.

8. Soak stain in a mixture of equal parts cold water and white vinegar for a few minutes.

9. Dab the soaked area of the t-shirt with a clean cloth to remove any excess liquid.

10. Rinse stained area thoroughly in cold water.

11. Wash the t-shirt in the washing machine on a cold cycle.

12. Hang the t-shirt up to dry.

Tips

  • Work quickly to remove the mustard stain – the faster you get to it, better!
  • Be sure to use cold water, as hot water can cause certain types of stains to set.
  • For particularly stubborn stains, try mixing in a small amount of baking soda before soaking.
