If you’ve got yourself a mustard stain on a necktie, don’t despair. While it can seem almost impossible to remove such a stubborn stain, there are actually a few possible solutions that you can try. Here are the different methods you can use to remove mustard stains from your neckties.
The most effective way to clean off the stain is by washing the affected area with a detergent solution. To create the solution, mix some laundry detergent with warm water. Then, dip the stained area into the solution before scrubbing it gently with an old toothbrush.
Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water and allow it to air dry.
Bleach and ammonia can also be used to remove mustard stains from clothing. However, do keep in mind that these substances can cause discoloration and damage the fabric, so make sure to check care labels of the tie before proceeding.
To use this method, mix equal parts of bleach or ammonia with cold water. Then, soak the stained area in the solution for about 10 minutes. Afterward, wash tie with a gentle detergent as usual.
Using white vinegar is another great way to remove mustard stains from clothing. To use this method, mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with a quart of cold water in a bucket. Then submerge the stained area in bucket before scrubbing it with a soft brush. Rinse it off with cold water afterward and let it air-dry.
Baking soda is also a great alternative to removing mustard stains from clothing. To use this method, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with half a cup of water until it turns into a paste. Then, spread the paste over stained area and leave it to sit for about 30 minutes. Rinse off area with cold water after and hang it to dry.
With these four easy methods, you can now easily remove mustard stains from your neckties! Just remember to always test the solution on a small patch of the fabric first before treating the entire stain in order to avoid any damage to tie.
