First, it is important to know the type of material in the Teneriffe lace to determine the best cleaning method. If it is made of linen, silk, or cotton fabric, fill a sink with lukewarm water and add a few drops of a mild detergent or dish soap. Let the Teneriffe lace soak for 10 minutes. Gently rub the stained area with a soft brush or an old toothbrush to remove the mustard stain. Rinse the fabric with cold water and lay it flat on a dry towel to air dry.

If Teneriffe lace is made of synthetic fibers, mix 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent with 1 quart of warm water, then add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and dab the stained area. Spot test the soaked cloth on an inconspicuous area of the Teneriffe lace to ensure that colors do not bleed or fade. Change the cloth to a clean one when needed and rinse the fabric with cold water. Hang to air dry or use a hair dryer set on low heat.

It is important to avoid using hot water or rubbing alcohol on delicate lace, as both can cause colors to fade. To ensure that all of mustard residue is gone, it may be necessary to repeat the stain removal process.
