If you've got mustard stains on your sunglasses, the first step is to determine the material of your lenses and frame. Sunglasses come in a variety of materials, including plastic, polycarbonate, and glass. Depending on the material, you'll want to use a different cleaning method.
If your sunglasses have plastic, polycarbonate, or acrylic lenses, you can easily clean the mustard stains with rubbing alcohol or vinegar. Start by mixing your cleaning solution: for rubbing alcohol, combine one part water and one part alcohol; for vinegar, mix one part white vinegar and two parts water. Be sure to do the mixing in a small bowl so you don't make too much!
Soak a cotton ball in the solution and then gently rub it onto the stained area. You may need to repeat this a few times until the stain is gone. When you're done, rinse the lenses off with soap and water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
If your sunglasses have glass lenses, you should avoid using rubbing alcohol or vinegar--they may cause discoloration or damage to glass. Instead, use a mild detergent like dish soap or hand soap. Start by dampening a soft cloth with warm water and apply a few drops of detergent.
Gently rub stained area in a circular motion with the cloth and detergent. You may need to repeat this several times, but be careful not to apply too much pressure. When you've removed the stain, rinse the lenses off with clean water.
To keep your sunglasses from getting stained in the future, avoid getting them wet or sweaty. If you're eating foods that are likely to stain, remove your sunglasses and put them somewhere safe until you're finished. Wiping the lenses down with a soft cloth after each use can also help keep them looking their best.
