Mustard is a condiment often enjoyed but dreaded as a stain on clothing. If it lands on your skirt, don’t worry: it’s not the end of world and the stain doesn’t have to stay forever. Here are some tips on how to get mustard stains out of your skirt:

  • First, check the label and follow the washing instructions for the fabric. Ensure that the material can handle cold water and laundry detergent.
  • If the instructions allow it, put the skirt in the sink with cold water and several drops of a mild detergent.
  • Let the skirt sit in the water for at least ten minutes before scrubbing the spot gently with a soft brush.
  • Rinse off the garment in sink and wring it out to remove any extra moisture.
  • If stain is still visible after washing, pour white vinegar onto the spot and wait for at least 5 minutes before rinsing the skirt again.
  • Once the spot has been removed, spin the skirt in the washing machine and dry it as usual.

If the stain still won’t budge, try rubbing a bit of liquid detergent on the affected area before repeating the process above. Do not use hot water as it can cause stain to set in further.

These steps should help you get out of most mustard stains easily. Just remember to always check the clothing care label first! Don’t let the fear of a stain get in way of enjoying a good meal.
