Before you begin any cleaning process, it’s essential to blot the stain in order to absorb as much of the grease and moisture as possible. Use paper towels or an old cloth to press against the mustard-stained area.
You will then need to mix a mild detergent with cold water and apply it directly to the stained area. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub the solution into the fabric. Make sure to use circular motions, as this helps lift the stain from surface of material.
Afterwards, use cool water to rinse out the pretreated solution from fabric. Do not scrub area during this step, as doing so may cause stain to spread.
Once the pretreatment has been removed, the next step is to apply white vinegar onto the stained area. Mix the vinegar with an equal amount of water and then use a soft cloth to gently scrub the stain. This will help to loosen and remove the remaining grease from the fabric.
For any remaining mustard stains on the fabric, wash the garment in cold water. Make sure to use a mild detergent and a small amount of white vinegar in the washing machine cycle.
Finally, air dry your garment after washing process. Ironing the garment may cause the stain to set in, so it’s best to avoid this step. Once dry, check to make sure that the stain has been removed before wearing your garment again.
