Gather Supplies

Before you start cleaning, make sure you have the necessary supplies:

  • Mild detergent
  • Liquid enzyme detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Soft bristled toothbrush
  • Soft cloth

Soak Stain

In a bowl or bucket, mix one tablespoon of mild detergent with two cups of lukewarm water. Submerge stained area of the silk faille fabric completely. Soak the fabric for 20 minutes, then gently scrub the stained area with a soft bristled toothbrush.

Apply Liquid Enzyme Detergent

Once the fabric has been soaked and scrubbed, apply a liquid enzyme detergent directly onto the stain. Gently scrub the affected area with a cloth. Leave the detergent on fabric for 20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Use Vinegar

Vinegar is a great tool for removing stubborn stains. Use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) to scrub the fabric gently. Let the vinegar sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water until stain is gone.

Air Dry

Once the fabric has been washed and rinsed, hang it up and let it air dry. Do not put it in the dryer as this may cause the stain to set and become permanent.

Conclusion

Mustard stains on silk faille do not have to be permanent! With a few simple steps, you can easily remove these pesky yellow stains. Always test out any cleaning method on an inconspicuous area before using it on the stained fabric.
