How to Clean Mustard Stains From Shorts

  1. Start by blotting stain with a clean, soft cloth to remove as much of mustard as possible.

  3. Using a soft cloth, dab some of the solution onto the stain and rub gently in a circular motion until the stain lifts against the fabric.
  4. If you don’t see any improvement, mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 2 cups of lukewarm water and dab that onto the stain.
  5. Rinse affected area with cool water and repeat the process if needed.
  6. When you are finally satisfied with the result, use a small amount of oxygen-based stain remover on the area and rinse with lukewarm water.
  7. Continue to rinse the area with running water until it is totally clear.
  8. Once you have removed all mustard, let the shorts air dry or dry in the dryer.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain has been there for longer than two weeks, it may be best to try a professional cleaner for the best results.
