The first step in cleaning mustard stains from satin is to scrape off any excess mustard with a blunt knife. Then, moisten stained area slightly with lukewarm water. To help break down the stain, apply a small amount of laundry detergent onto the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Next, rinse the area with cold water and blot dry with a soft cloth.
Good old white vinegar is also a great natural stain remover for satin fabrics. Soak the fabric in cold water for about 20 minutes before gently scrubbing the stained area with a toothbrush dipped into a mixture of half a teaspoon of white vinegar and 2 teaspoons of baking powder. Finally, rinse again with cold water and leave the fabric to air dry.
If neither detergent or vinegar work, try mixing 1 part ammonia in 5 parts water and spot-treat the stained area. Then, rinse and hang to dry.
And remember, never put satin fabrics in the dryer because this will make stain set.
