Step 1: Blotting

The first step is to blot the stained area with a clean paper towel or cloth towel. You want to be sure to blot upwards to avoid spreading the stain. Once you've done this, check if the stain is still visible.

Step 2: Pre-treatment

If stain is still visible, then you'll need to pre-treat it with a stain remover. There are various products available on the market specifically designed for removing mustard stains, but a common household product such as laundry detergent or dish soap will also work. For best results, apply a generous amount of remover directly onto stain.

Step 3: Washing

Once you've applied pre-treatment, carefully place the raincoat into the washing machine. Be sure to select a gentle cycle, and use warm water for the best results. You may also want to add some color-safe bleach or an oxygenated cleaner, which should help to lift the yellow mustard stain.

Step 4: Drying

Once the washing cycle is over, take the raincoat out of the washing machine and place it into the dryer. Again, select a low temperature setting. If the stain is still visible after drying, then you may want to repeat Steps 2 and 3.
