Start by lightly dabbing stain with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol works as a cleaning agent to break down the oily substance present in the mustard, making it easier to remove the stain. Continue to dab the alcohol onto the stained areas until the spots disappear.
When it comes to dealing with oily substances like mustard, dish soap is a great weapon to have. To begin, mix 1 teaspoon of dish soap in a cup of cold water. Dip a sponge into the mixture, squeeze out any excess liquid, and then gently scrub the stained areas. Be sure to use only light pressure as you don’t want to damage the fabric. Rinse off any residue with cold water once you’re done scrubbing.
White vinegar can be used to lighten yellow mustard stains. All you have to do is make a solution of half white vinegar, half water and apply it directly to the stained areas using a clean cloth. Once solution has been applied, gently rub the area in a circular motion. Finally, rinse the area with cold water and allow fabric to air-dry.
If the other methods have not yielded the desired results, then you can try using baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Start by sprinkling some baking soda directly onto the stained area. Mix equal parts of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and apply it over the baking soda. Leave the solution to work for 10-15 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
With these simple tips, you’ll now be able to quickly and effectively remove mustard stains from your raincoat. A word of caution: always test the solution on an inconspicuous area of the fabric before applying it to the stain to ensure that it does not cause any discoloration or damage to the fabric.
