Removing Mustard Stains from Pots and Pans

Mustard stains may seem tricky to remove—but with a few simple steps, you can easily take care of them. Here are steps for removing mustard stains from cookware:

  1. If the stain is fresh, scrape off as much as possible with a spoon or spatula.
  2. Soak pot or pan in hot water for a few minutes.
  3. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid and scrub with a nylon scrub pad.
  4. Rinse the pot or pan thoroughly and dry with a towel.

For tougher stains, you can try using baking soda. First, cover the stain with baking soda and then pour boiling water over it. This should help lift stubborn stain. Then, use a scrub brush to work the baking soda into the stain. Check the pot or pan until the stain has been removed. Finally, rinse and dry the cookware with a towel.

Tips to Avoid Mustard Stains

Although they may seem difficult to remove, mustard stains don't have to be inevitable. Here are some tips to help you avoid them in the future:

  • When adding mustard to a dish, place a spoon or other utensil underneath it to catch any spills.
  • Be careful not to let a pot or pan sit too long with mustard inside it.
  • Clean up any spills as soon as possible—the sooner you clean them, the easier they are to remove.

With these tips, you can keep your cookware looking shiny and new, even when preparing dishes with mustard.
