Instructions
- First, act fast. As soon as you notice the mustard stain, try to blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a clean cloth.
- For the deep-set stain, combine one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap with two cups of cool water. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and apply directly to the stain.
- Gently work the damp cloth into the fibers of the fabric, rubbing in a circular motion. Do not rub too hard, as this can cause the fabric to pill.
- After rubbing the stain, leave the cloth in place and let the piqué fabric absorb the soap solution for five to ten minutes.
- Using a clean white cloth, gently blot the area to remove any remaining soap residue and loosen the mustard stain.
- Run cold water over the stained area and continue blotting until the stain begins to fade.
- If the stain still persists, repeat steps three to six until it has been completely removed.
Tips
- Be sure to test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous spot before using on the entire garment.
- For extra stain-fighting power, add one tablespoon of vinegar to the soap solution.
- Always work from the outside of the stain inward so as to not spread stain.
