Accidents involving mustard happen. But luckily, it can also be removed easily when you know what to do. When you have mustard stains on your overalls, especially they are made from cotton or wool fabric, you need to treat the stain as quickly as possible by following these simple steps:

  1. As soon as possible, scrape off any excess mustard using a blunt knife.
  2. Rinse the stained area under cold water.
  3. Apply a heavy-duty laundry detergent directly onto the stain.
  4. Allow the detergent to soak in for 5 minutes.
  5. Using a sponge, gently rub the area to lift the stain.
  6. Rinse the overalls with cold water and then wash normally.
  7. After washing, hang item outside to dry.

Once your overalls is dry, examine the stained area. If it is still visible, repeat steps above. You may need to use a laundry pre-treatment product before washing if the stain has been allowed to sit for too long. Don’t forget to test all cleaning products on a small area before treating the entire stain. That way, you can ensure that fabric will not be damaged.
