Step One: Blot the Stain with a Dry Towel

Start by blotting the stained area with a dry towel to absorb as much of mustard as possible. Do not rub the stain as this will only set it in the fabric more.

Step Two: Dampen a Clean Towel with Cold Water

Dampen a clean towel with cold water. Apply the dampened towel to mustard stain and press down gently to lift the remaining residue from the fabric.

Step Three: Create a Mustard Stain-Removing Mixture

Combine 1 tsp of liquid laundry detergent, 2 tsp of white vinegar, and 1 cup of water in a bowl and stir together until blended. Soak an absorbent cloth in the mixture and apply to the stained area.

Step Four: Rub the Stain Gently with a Nailbrush or Soft Toothbrush

Use a nailbrush or a soft toothbrush to gently rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse with a damp cloth and check to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain persists, repeat the above steps until the stain is gone.

Step Five: Launder the Clothing

Once the stain is removed, launder the clothing as per label instructions. To ensure that the stain does not reappear, add a ¼ cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle.
