Start by blotting the stained area with a dry towel to absorb as much of mustard as possible. Do not rub the stain as this will only set it in the fabric more.
Dampen a clean towel with cold water. Apply the dampened towel to mustard stain and press down gently to lift the remaining residue from the fabric.
Combine 1 tsp of liquid laundry detergent, 2 tsp of white vinegar, and 1 cup of water in a bowl and stir together until blended. Soak an absorbent cloth in the mixture and apply to the stained area.
Use a nailbrush or a soft toothbrush to gently rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse with a damp cloth and check to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain persists, repeat the above steps until the stain is gone.
Once the stain is removed, launder the clothing as per label instructions. To ensure that the stain does not reappear, add a ¼ cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle.
