Mix together a small bowl of cold water with a few drops of liquid detergent. Using a soft-bristled brush, gently scrub the mustard stain with the soapy mixture. Be sure to only use a light amount of pressure as macramé is delicate.
Once the pre-treatment is finished, add a few tablespoons of white vinegar to the area, and use soft-bristled brush to gently scrub again. This will help to lift up any remaining mustard remnants.
Once the stain is gone, rinse the macramé with cold water. Don't use hot water, as this can cause stain to set even more.
Hang the macramé up to air dry or lay it on a towel to absorb any excess moisture.
An easy way to prevent mustard stains from appearing in the future is to always keep your macramé away from food items that can easily cause messes.
