The first step to cleaning a mustard stain is to identify the fabric. If lace is made of delicate fibres like silk or wool, extra attention should be taken as to not further damage material. The cleaning techniques used may vary depending on fabric.
Take a dull knife or spoon and gently scrape off any excess mustard from the fabric. Be sure to use a light hand so that you don't rip the delicate fibres.
Fill a glass or bowl with cold water and let the stained area soak for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the water is cold, as hot water may cause the stain to set faster.
Mix laundry detergent and white vinegar together until you create a paste-like substance. Gently rub the paste onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing out with cold water.
If the stain is still visible after the above steps, wash lace in cold water. Use a mild detergent and air dry afterwards.
