Start by diluting 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt in one quart of oxygenated water. Absorb as much of the spilled mustard as possible with a clean paper towel or cloth. Soak the stained area in the salt water solution for 10 minutes. Scrub the area gently using a soft brush before rinsing the salt away with cold water. Repeat the process if necessary.
If Epsom salt doesn't do the trick, then you can try mixing together a solution of white vinegar and cold water. First, soak the mustard stain in the solution for 10 minutes. Then, scrub the affected area with a soft brush and rinse with cold water. You may need to repeat this process to fully remove the stain.
For particularly stubborn mustard stains, try mixing together a solution of Borax and water. Combine 2 tablespoons of Borax and 1 pint of warm water and mix until completely dissolved. Dip a cloth in the solution, wring it out, and press it against the stain for 15 minutes. Scrub off any remaining residue with a soft brush and a light detergent. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary.
Hydrogen peroxide is a great option when it comes to removing tough mustard stains. First, blot the stain with a damp cloth to absorb as much of mustard as possible. Then, mix 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap into 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Dip a cloth in the mixture and dab at the stain. Rinse with cold water and repeat as necessary.
Mix 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent with 1 cup of ammonia and 1 cup of cold water. Soak the stained area in the solution for 20 minutes. Scrub area gently with a soft brush before rinsing the mixture away with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
