Step 1: Blot Excess Mustard

Start by blotting up any excess mustard with a paper towel or cloth. Don't scrub as that could spread the stain and make it worse. Soak up as much of the mustard as possible.

Step 2: Make a Detergent Solution

Mix warm water, a few drops of mild dish detergent (like Dawn) and a squirt of white vinegar into a bowl or cup. Stir mixture until suds form.

Step 3: Soak the Hat

Submerge hat completely in the detergent solution, making sure that the stained area gets completely soaked. Allow the hat to soak for 15 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse the hat off with cool water and then repeat steps 2 and 3 if necessary. If the stain is still there, you can try adding a few drops of vinegar directly to the stain and scrubbing it gently with a toothbrush.

Step 5: Dry the Hat

Once you're satisfied with results of your mustard removal efforts, it's time to dry the hat. Lay it flat on a few old towels and allow it to air dry.

Step 6: Admire Your Handiwork

Now that your hat is looking good as new, you can happily show it off once again!
