Once you spot a mustard stain on your guipure lace garment, take immediate action! The quicker you act, the better chance you have of removing the stain. Blot the stain with a cloth to remove any excess mustard before you attempt to clean it. Do not rub or scrub the area, as this will only make the stain spread and set in further.
Once you've taken immediate action, your next step is to actively soak stain with cool water. Fill up a basin with cold water and place garment in it, making sure the stained area is fully submerged. Leave it to soak for 30 minutes and then gently agitate the fabric in order to loosen the stain.
Once the fabric is soaked, it's time to create a cleaning solution. You can use either a mixture of mild laundry detergent and water or a mixture of vinegar and baking soda. Whichever you choose, mix it together and apply it directly to the stain using a soft bristled brush. Gently work solution into the fabric, taking care not to damage lace.
Once you've applied cleaning solution, rinse out the fabric thoroughly with cold water in order to remove any residue. Then repeat the process of soaking, scrubbing and rinsing until the stain has disappeared. Remember to change the water regularly.
Once the stain is gone, lay the garment flat on a towel in order to dry. Avoid using direct heat, such as a hair dryer or iron, as this could cause the stain to set in even further. Once it is completely dry, it should look as good as new!
