What You’ll Need
- Dishwashing liquid or white vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide or ammonia
- Baking soda or cornstarch
- Clean cloths
- White paper towels
Method 1: Soak in Hot Water and Detergent
- Fill a bucket, sink, or basin with hot water (as hot as will be safe with fabric type).
- Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid or white vinegar.
- Allow the garment to soak for several minutes.
- Gently rub the stain with an old toothbrush to loosen residue.
- Rinse the garment in clean, hot water.
- Repeat steps 1-5 if the stain hasn’t lifted.
Method 2: Use a Stain Remover
- Mix two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part ammonia together.
- Apply the mixture to the stained area and gently rub it in.
- Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Scrub stain with an old toothbrush.
- Rinse the garment in cold water.
- Repeat steps 1-5 if the stain persists.
Method 3: Use a Baking Soda or Cornstarch Paste
- Mix together equal parts baking soda or cornstarch and cold water.
- Form a thick paste.
- Spread the paste onto the stained area.
- Let it sit for five minutes.
- Wipe off the paste with a damp cloth.
- If necessary, soak the garment in cold water and repeat steps 1-5.
