The first step to removing the mustard stain is to blot it with a clean cloth or paper towels. Be sure to use a dry cloth first so that you don't spread the stain further. Keep blotting the stain until no more liquid comes off onto your cloth.
For tougher mustard stains, make a solution of detergent and warm water. As always, use a gentle detergent that is designed specifically for delicate fabrics. Soak garment in this solution for fifteen minutes, then rinse thoroughly and check to see if the mustard stain has been removed.
If the stain is still visible after the detergent and water treatment, try using shaving cream. Apply a generous amount of shaving cream over the stain and let it sit for ten minutes. Then, gently rub the shaving cream into fabric. Rinse the garment thoroughly, and check to see if the stain has disappeared.
Another way to try to remove a stubborn mustard stain is to create a paste of vinegar and baking soda. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for an hour before rinsing. This method is particularly effective on older stains.
By following these four steps, you should be able to successfully remove mustard stains from Dobby fabrics. If all else fails, you may want to try taking garment to a professional dry cleaner.
