  • Cleaning solution
  • White vinegar
  • A soft-bristled brush

Steps To Remove Mustard Stains from Dashiki

  1. As soon as you can, blot the mustard stain with paper towels or a cloth rag.
  2. Mix a solution of two parts water and one part white vinegar, and apply it to the stain with a soft-bristled brush.
  3. Rinse the area with clean cool water using the brush.
  4. If the stain persists, create a paste using baking soda and cool water, and apply it to the stained area. Allow it to sit for 10–15 minutes, then rinse and lightly brush the area.
  5. Repeat this process until the stain has been completely removed.
  6. Allow the garment to air dry or use a fan or hair dryer on a low setting.

Additional Tips For Keeping Dashikis Clean

  • Whenever possible, hand wash your Dashikis.
  • If machine washing, use cold water and gentle detergent and place in a garment bag.
  • Hang dry or dry flat. Avoid putting your Dashiki in the dryer.
