Step 1: Blot the Stain

The first step in removing any stain, especially on delicate fabrics such as cotton, is to blot the stain gently but firmly. Use paper towels or a clean cloth to dab away at the spot, starting from the outside of the stain and working your way inwards to prevent it from spreading.

Step 2: Make a Soapy Solution

Mix together a solution of 1 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and 2 cups of warm water. For more stubborn stains, you can add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. Using a cloth, sponge or brush, apply this soapy solution to the stained area and gently rub the fabric together to work it into the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse, Repeat and Dry

Rinse the solution off with cool water, and repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed until the stain is completely removed. Once the stain is gone, give area a final rinse with cool water and pat dry with a clean cloth. Then, lay the garment flat to air dry or tumble dry on a low setting.
