The first step in removing the mustard stain is to blot it with a clean, white cloth. Try not to rub, as this can spread the stain and make it even harder to get out. Instead, gently dab stain, lifting away as much of the mustard as possible.
Once you have blotted away as much of the stain as possible, it's time to wash fabric. Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water, then add a mild detergent. Place your Cornelli lace into the water and allow it to soak for around 30 minutes. Once the stain has been soaked, rinse the fabric with cold water until all of the soap has been removed.
Once the fabric has been washed, it's time to dry it. Gently squeeze out any excess water, then lay the fabric flat on a clean towel. Allow it to air dry naturally, avoiding direct heat such as radiators or hairdryers which could cause damage to the fabric.
Once your Cornelli lace is dry, you may find that the stain has not completely disappeared. If this is case, you can try using a stain remover such as Vanish or a similar product. Follow the instructions on the packaging to apply the stain remover and then leave it to work its magic. Once it has been given enough time to work, simply follow the instructions to remove it and you should find that stain will have been successfully removed.
