Be sure to act quickly when mustard stains appear on your coat. To pretreat the stain, add one tablespoon of dish soap to a bowl of warm water. Apply the soapy solution directly to the stained area using a clean cloth or towel. Blot the area to work solution into the fabric, and then let sit for 5 minutes.
After letting the pretreatment sit on the fabric for a few minutes, make a paste of equal parts vinegar and baking soda. Take an old toothbrush and work the mixture into the stained area. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing the area with cold water.
Once the area is rinsed, use a clean towel or cloth to dab the area to remove any excess liquid. Once all of the moisture is removed, hang the coat up to allow it to air dry.
Tough mustard stains can be a hassle but with a few easy steps, they can be eliminated quickly. Remember to act fast once the stain appears and to use the proper cleaning materials. By following these simple steps, your coat will be looking like new again in no time!
