Steps for Removing Mustard Stains from Chiffon

  • First, try to blot the stain as much as possible with a paper towel or lint-free cloth.
  • Mix one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with two cups of cold water.
  • Dip a clean, lint-free cloth into the detergent mixture and gently dab the stained area.
  • Rinse the stained area with cold water and repeat the dabbing process until the stain has disappeared.
  • If stain is still there, try soaking the garment in a basin of warm (not hot) water mixed with 1/4 cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of salt.
  • Let the chiffon fabric soak in the solution for 30 minutes.
  • Check the stain after 30 minutes and if it’s still there, repeat the soaking process.
  • Once the stain is gone, rinse the fabric again and lay it flat to dry.

Tips for Preventing Mustard Stains from Setting

  • Act quickly! The longer you wait to treat the stain, the harder it will be to remove.
  • Never scrub the fabric or rub the stain while cleaning. This can cause the stain to spread and become harder to remove.
  • For particularly stubborn stains, use a grease-fighting dish soap instead of regular laundry detergent.
  • Make sure to wash the garment on its own, as other items may become stained in the washing machine.
