Mustard stains on calico clothes are some of the most difficult to remove. Calico is a delicate fabric that is prone to fading, so it’s important to take extra care when cleaning a mustard stain off this material. Here are some tips to help you get your calico clothes looking like new again!
Using a spoon or a butter knife, gently scrape off any excess mustard that is still on the fabric. Be careful not to spread it further, as this will make stain more difficult to remove.
Mix a tablespoon of liquid detergent with a cup of warm water. Submerge the stained area in the mixture and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
Remove the garment from the detergent-water mixture and rinse with cold water. Check to see if the stain is still present. If it is, repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain has been completely removed.
If the mustard stain persists, handwash the garment using an enzyme-based detergent. Soak for 30 minutes and then rinse with cold water. This final step should be enough to remove the stubborn stain.
Once you’ve successfully removed the mustard stain, hang your garment up to dry. Avoid putting it in the dryer, as this could set the stain, making it impossible to remove.
With these easy steps, you can keep your calico clothes looking spotless and unstained!
