When it comes to removing mustard stains from business attire, you need to act fast. The sooner you start tackling the stain, the better chance you have of getting it out. Start by blotting up any excess mustard from the surface of the fabric using a clean, white cloth. Do not rub the stain as this will only cause it to spread further. After blotting, use cold water to flush stained area and help loosen the stain.
For fresh mustard stains, you can use laundry detergent or a pre-treater such as Shout or Spray n Wash. Apply the product directly to the stained area and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow it to work its magic. Once you’ve given product time to work, you can either machine wash the garment or hand wash it in the sink with warm water. You may need to repeat this process a few times to totally remove the stain.
For dried or set-in mustard stains, you need to take a different approach. You’ll want to use a stain remover or presoak product before laundering. These products are designed to break down the stain and make it easier to remove. Follow instructions on the package and then launder the item as usual. For best results, you can also let garment soak in the presoak solution for up to 8 hours before laundering.
If you’re still having trouble getting stubborn mustard stains out of business attire, you can take it to a professional dry cleaner. They have the expertise and extra strength products to tackle even toughest stains.
