To begin tackling stain, it’s important to pre-treat the stained areas. Mix together equal amounts of laundry detergent and liquid enzyme presoak and apply to the areas. Allow the mixture to set in for five minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Once the pre-treatment has set, you’ll want to rinse the stained area with cold water. This will help to remove any remaining residue from the mixture as well as from the mustard stain itself.
Put the garment into the washing machine and wash it in hot water. If possible, use a stain remover along with the regular laundry detergent. This will help to further break down the stain and keep it from setting into the fabric.
After garment is washed, it’s time to dry. Make sure to hang or lay the garment flat to dry. Putting the garment in the dryer could cause the stain to set permanently and ruin fabric.
Once the garment is dried, check the stain. If it’s still there, try repeating the steps above and increasing the soaking time for the pre-treatment mixture.
